Ahmed Abu Sharekh, a father and English teacher in Gaza, has always stood for peace. Now, he and his two children, Naem and Ameer, live in a small tent on Rafah’s beach, exposed to the sun by day and cold by night, after being forced to flee their home. Despite his efforts, the cost to reach safety in Egypt—$5,000 per person—is far beyond their reach. Ahmed’s hope is to secure a safe future for his children away from the conflict.
